2006 Highlights
- Belva Rasmussen was awarded The Book of Golden Deeds Award by the East Side Minneapolis Exchange Club for her extensive and on-going commitment to the community.
- Twin Cities Business Monthly magazine selected Gail Mikolich as one of five of Minnesota's Emerging Leaders. Northwestern Financial Review also recognized Gail as a Rising Star in Banking. She was one of seven recipients to receive this award.
- Charles Huntley was presented the Lutheran Lamb Award for his involvement with the Boy Scouts. This national award is presented for extensive service through various youth programs.
- Dusten Johnson was elected as the 2007 East Minneapolis Exchange Club President. The Exchange Club is a non-profit service organization that has been active in the Northeast Community for over 40 years.
- Larry Pietrzak was inducted into the East Side Old Timers Hall of Fame. This group recognizes individuals for their support of local athletic organizations.
- Northeast Bank won the First Place Exceptional Award and the Best Business Garden Award in the city of Minneapolis for 2005. Great job Mark Carpenter and Mike Selinsky.
- Northeast Bank was presented with the Best in Show Award by the Twin Cities United Way for our 2005 Survival Island themed campaign. Pam Kessler and Bill Helmers were the co-campaign coordinators.
- Northeast Bank was recognized by the Rising to New Heights Make a Difference Day committee for its fundraising for Tara Peterson's Benefit. We are so pleased that Tara is easing back into work at our Columbia Heights Office.
- Northeast Bank donates to over 75 non-profit agencies on an annual basis. Over $100,000 is donated through the Walter C. Rasmussen-Northeast Bank Foundation. The Foundation made a 10% increase in charitable contributions for 2006. An additional 5% has been approved for 2007. Approximately 77% of all grants are CRA-related and over 60% of grant dollars go to housing and education initiatives.
- Northeast Bank has participated in the Minnesota Keystone Program for 12 years. To participate in this program the Bank gifts 5% of pre-tax net earnings to address community needs.
2007 Highlights
- We celebrated our 60th anniversary in 2007! We hosted our annual picnics with a little extra fanfare. At the Minneapolis Picnic in the Park event, we distributed a history brochure with a timeline to all of our guests. Over 4,500 guests were served at our three picnics.
- The Northeast Minneapolis Chamber of Commerce honored Northeast Bank as Business of the Year.
- Northeast Bank continues to be listed in the Top 25 Banks in the metro-area by the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal.
- Northeast Bank hosted a Japanese delegation of bankers who requested to visit due to our recent designation as the Independent Community Bankers of America top bank in outstanding community service.
- Belva Rasmussen was honored for 25 years of service to the City of Minneapolis by the Minneapolis City Council. Belva was especially recognized as a leader in mentoring women in business.
- Belva also recieved the Stan Kowalski Award from the Twin Cities United Way. Belva has volunteered with the United Way for over 30 years.
- Larry Pietrzak received the 2006 Leadership Award from the Twin Cities North Metro Chamber of Commerce.
- Tom Beck and Belva Rasmussen were featured in the Business Journal's "Who's Who: Banking & Finance" section.
- Gary Ingle was chosen as the Metro North Chamber of Commerce Ambassador of the Month.
- Donna Aldama was featured in the Eastside Food Co-op News and recognized for helping Eastside Food Co-op achieve its financial goals.
- Sue Sjoselius received the Genevieve Draves Award from East Side Neighborhood Services recognizing her years of community service.
- Gail Mikolich was named one of 35 Top Women in Finance, by Finance and Commerce newspaper.
- The Walter C. Rasmussen-Northeast Bank Foundation increased contributions by 10% in 2006 and by 5% in 2007. Over 60% of these dollars are devoted to housing and education initiatives. New grants are awarded every year. Nine additional groups have been awarded grants for 2008. Over 75 agencies receive a share of the more than $100,000 donated by the Bank. New recipients include: Anoka County Community Action Program, Inc., Deaf Blind Services Minnesota, LLC/Vision Loss Resources and the Minnesota Keystone business.
- Northeast Bank offices also work on their own to meet community needs. Our Coon Rapids office was recognized for donating new clothing valued at $1,500 to Alexandra House, a shelter for women and children.
- Northeast Bank staff and board members are at work in our communities. During 2007 they logged more than 3,500 volunteer hours working at events, as members of organizations and supporters of worthy community projects.
